We were watching “Man v. Food” and decided to open a bottle to celebrate Tuesday. That was dumb. The Mrs. fell asleep on the couch before taking a sip. Yes, it’s only 7:45 so she could wake up yet. But don’t count on it.
Ether way, Rubus. Old vine. Cab. Good. It’s light — not the color, but both the taste and the smell. It’s dry. There’s some spice but not much fruit. I think I taste more of a tea flavor; it even hits your mouth kind of like a sip of tea would. But it’s full of alcohol, very drinkable, and a great choice if you want a nice bottle that would probably appeal to a wide audience. I have zero evidence with which to back up that prior statement. It just sounded right. It tastes to me like something you’d find in a good flight at any given tasting room in Napa. I mean that as a compliment.
All in all, 6.5 cans out of 10. The $22 price tag (roughly) seems a little steep to me, but pick up a bottle. You won’t be disappointed. I’m going to pour another glass now.
PS, the Mrs. woke up and had a sip. She muttered something and then wandered off. I think she likes it too.
